Annensky Fortification is a complex of fortification constructions created in Vyborg after the Northern War 1700-1721. Earlier, the fortification was called Annenkron or Koron-Sankt-Anna/Sankt-Annen-Kron (St. Anne’s Crown) in honor of then-empress Anna Ioannovna.
The fortification general layout reminds a crown and represents a complicated system of deep ditches, bastions, ravelins. It is worthy of note that Annensky Fortification was brought to defensive readiness not once, but had never been involved in fighting, and reached our days practically without any serious modernizations.
